ANNOUNCING: “god bless the thankful poor” Charity Art Auction w/ Swann Galleries & Our Fall/Winter ‘25 Appeal

Our upcoming art auction fundraiser in partnership with RUSH Arts & Swann Auction Galleries borrows inspiration and sustenance from Henry Ossawa Tanner’s The Thankful Poor (1894).

In our current climate, Black-led arts organizations such as ours are deeply challenged in finding sustainable support for our operations and growth. The healing work we do in creating intentional spaces for exposure, growth, and celebration of Philadelphia’s Black arts + cultrural heritage ecosystem is a reflection of our inheritance to uplift Black creativity as a sacred method by which we invent room for Black life to resist, overcome, and thrive. We maintain a duty to our ancestors. Yet, to keep on this road, we require activating community. We welcome and invite a public love offering from our soon-to-be Friends to uplift us in this time.

This is the opening activity of our 2025-26 Fall / Winter Appeal by which we intend to raise more than $25,000 in direct donor support to invest in the ongoing capacity-building and growth of our North Philadelphia-based cultural heritage non-profit. We owe a special gratitude to curators Tarisse Iriarte & Jordan Martin for whom this art auction opportunity would not be realized.
